@@> "Knowledge is Virtue" ???
The Socratic- "knowledge is virtue", eludes me. I've read
the supposed extensions of this from Plato's "bringing the three
part soul into balance = virtuous contentment ....yet nevertheless
feel it might take another lifetime to fully digest (unless it
turns out to be untrue or simple and I've overcomplicated it).
As repeated from earlier postings, I *feel* more comfortable
as per the "greatest good for the greatest number". The
Utilitarianism of the modern English styles of philosophy seeming
more to their point and within reach of my own gentle (quantitative)
hedonism (live and let live with as much fun as can be contained
within a life's passing). I do not find any clues to life having
any specific meanings beyond some vague of Nature's agenda and/or
our silly seeming "hard wired" obsession with an own importance....!
I do poke about to see where I might be wrong, but none of the
(importance) arguments stand very tall or attractive when the lights
are on!
Each of the few philosophers so far examined have had some good
to adopt into my own thinking; as also some less favorable to be
rejected. Whether the ~sunshine thinkers~, the ~grey day boys~,
or the dark ~nightshade brooders~, they all seem ~some~ right
when you're reading them (or about them). You might comment, in
response, if you think my views reasonable or out of mutual range!
I often get the awkward impression my ~take~ on things is from an
alien reality. Though I surmise you do not share my relativistic
views, I find it perplexing that anyone who thinks on such concerns
could have any other!
