Pascal looks better all the time...

I have three different books on C, and for the last few days I've
been trying to read a substring. In depair, I picked up my old book on
Pascal, and found what I wanted in 2 minutes! I *knew* C must have a
similar function (the library reference is 600 pages and it's *full*
of functions!), but I couldn't find it!

I am reaching the conclusion that C is designed to be difficult.
Instead of laying it out to make it easy, it revels in its lunacy.
Dave Begley tells me that it is `meant to be dangerous' as if that's a
good thing - writing itself on top of command.com and locking the
computer! But like OS/2, I won't give up till I've mastered it, and
then I'll either take delight in its clever brilliance and become a
devotee... or I'll sacrifice the bastard to Ba'al in the backyard!

Regards,
Bob
