So, let's look, how good McAfee could be...
For the german anti-virus echo "virus.ger" I tested some av-programs with  
viruses generated by PC-MPC, NRLG, VCC and VCL. Originally, I didn't  
tested McAfee's SCAN, but I did it for Virus_Info... ;-)
Here the results:
Solly : 2713/2713 --> 100  %  (FindVirus 7.72)
AVP   : 2711/2713 --> 99,9 %  (Build 113)
F-Prot: 1991/2713 --> 73,4 %  (Version 2.27, did not find most NRLG's)
TBAV  : 2619/2713 --> 96,5 %  (TBScan 8.01)
VSP   : 2633/2713 --> 95,1 %  (VSP is a german av-program by Ralph Roth)
And now... don't shame... ;)
SCAN  : 2633/2713 --> 97,1 %  (3.0.x, May 1997)   WOW! :-)
Now it is out - but only for generator-viruses (all were older than 3  
months).
But finding polymorphic viruses is still a big problem for McAfee, some  
macro viruses, too. :-(
