Hello William,
On 14-Oct-96 at 09:25:00, "All" and "William Donovan" were
discussing "DEL DIR":
WD> Hi, I'm looking for a very basic command which seems to be
WD> undocumented. Years ago I used it in autoexec.bat to delete my temp
WD> dir. As Win versions crashed, I changed the command to ask for a
WD> conformation before deleteing my temp dir, as in del *.* or erase
WD> *.*.
WD> I can't remember the command to delete the dir without a
WD> conformation. Thats what I'm looking for so I can run it in a batch
WD> file. If anyone out there knows this command (Delete entire dir
WD> without a conformation) please can you let me know. Thanks in
WD> advance!
If you are running MS-DOS v6.nn or higher, try:
DELTREE /Y d:\dirname
Warning: This command will immediately eradicate the specified
directory, any of its subdirectories, and ALL of the
files contained within . . . no questions asked.
Before MS-DOS v6.00, we used to use:
ECHO Y|DEL d:\dirname\*.*>NUL
RD d:\dirname
Note: This combination will delete the files in "d:\dirname" if the
files do not have any attributes protecting them. If
"d:\dirname" still contains any files and/or subdirectories
after the DEL command, the RD command will fail with an error.
