JR-> though, "The Tameness scale", a 10 step scale. Its a listing of
-> things that your bird will allow at each step. Its supposed to be a
-> guideline to how tame your Parrot is. The problem I have is that
-> there are some things at each level that I can do and some things I
-> can't as yet so where does Sunny fit on this scale? Thanks for
-> listening, any advice, tips, tricks welcome.
If you wish to use this scale for your purposes, perhaps you should
consider using it just as a general guideline to accomplish those
things you wish to do with Sunny. We all have different personality
types as do our feathered friends and each of us would probably fall in
different places on the same set of scales. Just look at any of the
"behaviorist" theories and I think you will agree, we all fall
differently on their respective scales but the end result is what we
should seek to achieve based on our own expectations of what we want,
not someone else. Hope this interpretation is of use...
Thanks for responding. I believe I am getting a grasp on this subject
now. I am also quite happy with where I am in his training. This is my
first conure and most everyone I know has told me that getting them to
do anything but scream is very difficult if not impossible. Well I'm
happy to report that Sunny talks rather plainly and only screams when he
is demanding attention. This happens less and less now as the whole
family spoils this little guy/gal. (not real sure)
