subject: match grade

-> I priced a new match grade (dunno what match grade is!!!!!!)
Military rifles are built to rather "loose" tolerances in order to
insure reliable functioning under battlefield conditions.
A "match grade" rifle is one that armorers have hand-fitted to much
tighter tolerances in order to optimize it's accuaracy for target
shooting.
The reason match grade rifles cost so much more than regular guns is
that you are paying for all that hand-fitting by highly skilled labor.
Its very natural to want to own only the best, most accuarate firearms.
But the truth is, a regular grade rifle will serve the average shooter
just fine until HE becomes such a good shot that it is truly the rifle,
and not his own skill level, that is limiting his accuracy.

John
