PR> I use an '91 vintage Micronics 486/33 EISA system daily. It has a PR> Phoenix BIOS. It's connected to a KV switch and shares the keyboard PR> with two other systems. With some keyboards I get two beeps during PR> POST. When DOS is running I get another higher pitched, shorter beep PR> when anything does a MODE command or the equivalent, e.g. going into PR> Desqview or Windows. The keyboards all work fine, but apparently Oops, they work in DOS, but this system can dual-boot NT/4 workstation. These keyboards don't work with the BIOS when it's booted in NT/4. PR> something isn't getting initialized or queried as expected. It seems PR> to be more common in newer and 104-key keyboards, but not always. PR> Anybody got any experience with this? Is there more difference in PR> keyboards other than just extra keys and key-codes? Is there some PR> difference in the way they initialize? ... The bugs will go away when you turn off the computer! ___ MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.35 ---* Origin: The Bare Bones BBS (1:105/360) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 105/360 106/2000 633/267 |
