OK. McAfee does perform a self-check, but only:
- In the actual version, not in the version I've testet (3.0.0)
- If you scan something (e.g. 'C:\'). If SCAN displays only a help-screen,
  it does NOT perform a self-check at all!!!
And, if that program does it's self-check, there are two possibilities:
(a) It says only something like "Self-Check failed, aborting..." or
(b) SCAN displays a message how to do a virus-free scan ("... A: ...").
I don't know, why it does often (a) and sometimes (b)? Any ideas? :-?

Wrong, the original 3.0.0 sems to be a little bit buggy. I don't get every  
new version because it is not the best program at all... AVP (www.avp.ch)  
and that from Dr Solomon's (www.drsolomon.com) are *MUCH* better.
