On 14 Nov 02 13:32:00, Alex Shakhaylo said the following to Bob Short: AS> BS> I don't think you quite understand how this works (or should). AS> Oh .. it seems this is more complex than USA President election Let's just hope it's more fair too. ;-))) AS> BS> Any proposed amendment(s) need to be discussed and drafted by a AS> BS> group (of as many sysops as possible) before being presented.... AS> I see. Well, what does prevent to follow this procedure with a little AS> more of amendments ? Nothing. But we must allow for this to complete it's course before attempting another (whether it passes or not). AS> Do we have deadline for this particular amendment ? Not as I understand it. Ward knows it is important to have as many RC's know about and understand the proposal before calling an official vote of the RC's. I believe he is close to that point now. AS> BS> Even then, such must be presented to the IC, who then conducts a poll AS> BS> of the RC's. AS> Does it really matter who conducts the poll ? I think the main aim of the AS> poll is to study opinions and I think it doesn't depend on who runs poll. Take all the polls you like, and get all the opinions you care to compile. I would even suggest archiving the nore repetitive ones for reference. I did just that from the beginning of our current effort, so I could go back and review the general concensus of this point or that. Some of the last revisions to this proposal were arrived at by such polls (or from archved messages). AS> BS> Our proposal has met these criteria, as should any future ones. AS> You've done great work. Is it impossibility or your tiredness that AS> prevents to pass it once again ? :-) Thanks, but the "you" is plural... ;-) What prevents us from continuing to work on the proposal is simply that it has reached the point where no further discussion or debate can improve on it. We started out with a single concept, and then cultivated it into what you see now: the expressed and considered wishes of a representative group of concerned sysops. AS> Can you estimate time marks of this process ? I asked Ward a while ago, and will ask again. What I hear, I will relate here. :) Bob --- GEcho 1.00* Origin: BS BBS - Get yer BS here...
