-> TW> LINUX is NOT targeting the typical Home User. Never Has and maybe -> TW> Never Will. -> I'll go even further and say that I hope it never gets as desktop-oriented as -> Windows. Even today, when I install a current Linux distribution, I get tons of -> desktop stuff installed that I personally don't use and therefore have to -> remove after installation unless I want it filling up precious hard disk space. I just did the "Run Spot Run" install of Mandrake 9.2 on a HD last night. Still not for me apparently. OF course first I should say I rarely look at Docs. That said I had tough time getting the Printer Installed. I don't understand why that could not have been included in the automated portition of the install. And I had soem trouble getting the modem set up. Finaly found where I had to go to Root and do it. Installed fine and the Test Dial in to my ISP worked great. Rebotted and guess what. I could find NO place to make it dial in when I called up the Browser. Even the buttons to call up the Mandrake Web sites wouldn't do it. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
