I think that adding these may be for some a matter of preference; in that adding them causes those services to automatically start with the requester (or server). In my ibmlan.ini file the entry is blank ... ; wrkservices = PEER,MESSENGER wrkservices = and I start and stop PEER manually for when I'm willing to open my shares; and I don't bother with MESSENGER at all usually.
