Never. If any I'll trust an *ANTI-VIRUS* echo. VIRUS.GER is kind of that. 
Furthermore:
I don't trust an echo - I trust the one who's writing.

Must be a pretty poor one. The guy who tried it out, Anreas Marx, changed 
some bytes in the data-segment and even in the code-segment of SCAN 3.00. 
Nothing happened, SCAN started and said ......... nothing.
Then he tried a real infection with a 'living' VIRUS ........ *NOTHING!!!!*
He tried the same with F-Prot 2.27 and Dr.Solomons Findviru - both were 
crying hell and devil and claiming for a reboot!

I'm advised only to do what *I* think is correct and nothing else ;-).
