Hi,
After an 8 year absence :-(, I am looking to get back into playing
keyboards. My only experience, previously, was a couple of years in
HS/College when I owned an old Roland JX8P (Which I sold in a garage sale
a few years back for a disgustingly low sum). Anyway, I'm now 27, and
I've been looking to get back into playing again. This time I have much
more money to spend on both a keyboard *and* lessons.
I've been looking at several keyboards, but I'm having a hard time
deciding on which would be the best fit for me. I don't have any friends
who play, so I'm forced to seek the advice of salesmen and they only want
to suggest keyboards which they sell.
I don't really know what I should be looking for, but I'm kind of partial
to the following keyboards:
Alesis QS8
Roland A-90EX
Kurzweil PC88MX
My only requirements are that it has 88 weighted keys (I just like the
feel better than synth keys), and that it has good acoustic (grand piano)
sounds. I'd also like to be able to have some good vintage
synth/keyboards sounds -- specifically a realistic Rhodes piano sound and
a decent Hammond organ sound.
Also, if anyone is reading this in the Atlanta area, and would like to
recommend a good piano instructor (preferably for private instruction),
please email me.
Anyway, if anyone can help me out in my search I'd definitely appreciate
it!
Stephen
