JP> The 24th Annual Easter Hill Country Tour is on March 27th-30th
JP> in the beautiful Texas Hill Country near Kerrville, TX just
JP> north of San Antonio. The weather is normally warm and the
JP> scenery is spectacular with wild flowers, winding roads,
JP> rock fences, cattle guards, and cypress edged clear flowing
JP> streams. It's about the greatest riding in Texas. Camping and
JP> motels are available. Your chance to see bluebonnets at their best.
JP> Each year brings riders from all over the the country, with over
JP> 1,000 people
JP> expected in 1997. There are fully supported rides varying in
JP> length and degree of difficulty available each day.
JP> Each year the sponsorship is rotated among four bicycle clubs.
JP> This year the San Antonio Wheelmen are sponsors. For
JP> information send a SASE to: San Antonio Wheelmen, P.O. Box 34208, San
JP> Antonio, TX 78265 or Email to: EasterHCT@aol.com
A highly recommended ride. Who knows, you might find Lance Armstrong out on
a training ride in those hills this March. Those hills west of Austin toward
Kerrville are one of the places he regularly trains.
Unfortunately, I am always tied up Easter and can't make it, but many of my
friends do make that tour and love it.
JP> Hope I'm not off topic...don't remember the rules for
JP> announcement of rides.
I don't think its off topic at all. I'm not the moderator, but I think the
rule has always been that anything involving human powered vehicles is on
topic.
I am going to try to do the Bluebonnet ride in May again this year north of
San Antonio. For those who think that Texas is flat, the "Hill Country"
north of San Antonio and West of Austin will quickly disabuse you of that
notion.
