True, and I've had a proper gutful of them after 27-odd years...

I suspect it's caused by Msged actually, but it's awfully hard to prove.

I defrag my HPFS drives to 2 extents (the Gammatech's default is 3) every
couple of weeks, and that's far more often than is really necessary.

Another trap for the unwary.  It pays to run SQPACK occasionally, otherwise
the files become positively enormous.
