That depends upon what you consider the purpose of
immigrantion and naturalization policy.

What is morally wrong with formulating an immigration
policy which reflects the population demographics or our
national origin?
JH> People often try to justify injustice by comparing

Canada? Sweden? Germany? France?
JH> But there is a higher standard that we have to compare our

What higher standard? As John Sampson pointed out, in order
to illegally cross our borders, they first have to cross
either Canada or Mexico - both countries in which they can
take refuge. Why don't they?
AFAIC, the only principles to be considered in immigration
and naturalization policy should be 1) to offer refuge for
victims of repression and 2) to reflect the demographics of
American society.
BTW, the ONLY totalitarian regime from which refugees can
reach us without passing thru some other country in which
they could take refuge is Cuba. Ignoring for the moment the
occasional North Korean who jumps ship in an American
harbor, the majority of hardship refugee immigrants should
be Cuban.
