| subject: | Sad SysOps? |
Hi, Felipe! 25 Nov 02 23:14, Felipe T. Dorado said to Alex Shakhaylo: FD>>> Now, FD>>> Why is it that so many SysOps there feel so left out? AS>> How can they feel in case 90% of sysops of z2 cannot influence AS>> Z2C election ? FD> Want a short answer? FD> "Because I pay the phone, the electricity and take the pain to FD> configure the thing." };DD A more reasonable one? FD> "Because I was here before you got your first modem." FD> A more modern one? FD> "Because the "global village" is a good idea but it is still many FD> years away." A down to earth one? Because when you were given a node FD> number you were told, or should have been, that this network functions FD> according to the current policy. Your answers are reasonable, but still change nothing about the feeling, because the feeling is natural. You would feel the same being in the same situation, trust me :-) FD>>> What percentage of SysOps there can read English FD>>> fluently? AS>> Very few :( Though most of them can read and understand making AS>> an effort. FD> Well, that's something quite easily solved. I have the same problem in FD> my region but probably not that serious. It is natural, you never were behind the "Iron Certain". Now situation is getting corrected, but it can't be done too fast. That is to say 10 years ago there were a few who could read English even with efforts. FD> Are the not aware that there FD> are many others in the rest of the planet that feel more or less the FD> same? Right, tell them. They don't listen to you? Want a statement FD> of a few of us here explaining briefly how things are so they FD> understand that it is not a revolt what is needed but proposals in the FD> way current policy states? Sorry no money to give away as blackmail FD> for anyone ;) I like your style, Felipe. Let us get one more beer.rar :-) FD>>> What have they tried before embarking on a proyect for a FD>>> new P5? How is it progressing, can we have a glimpse, do they FD>>> need any help? AS>> Most of them were not aware of P5 attempt :( Now they seem to be AS>> more aware, but it is too late. FD> Well, that's something. FD> And no _it is not too late_. I mean this amendment. FD> Things on a planetary scale take time. FD> Personally I'm most interested in the things they think should be in FD> a new policy. What are those things? What if they happen to be the FD> same ones many of us here have in mind? ... We just need to know. This is very difficult question. Different people want different changes. I can't take the responsibility for all our people and sometimes they want the things that are in controversy. If you asked about my personal opinion I would be more specific. FD>>> A mail network is for communicating, right? Ok, let's use it. AS>> Seems we are doing the very same thing :-) FD> Yeap. :) FD> If you happen to have a list of things your people would like to be FD> changed of the current policy or the main points or guidelines of a FD> new one we most certainly would like to hear about them *_and_* take FD> them into account. 5 or 6 Thousand SysOps can't be ignored! :) But if FD> most of them can't voice their opinions for themselves someone has to FD> do the job. I'm afraid you have no choice but to act as ... FD> Coordinator! }};D It's finally happened, happened. Slightly ma-ad. All my fidolife I tried to avoid coordinator's position (just imagine the net with ~150 nodes, once a week you are getting a complaint, all the time you are blamed by somebody for this and for that). And now you say I have no choice ?! You wanna kill me as communicative and goodhumoured person, do you ? :-) Beside of the jokes I'm already trying to advocate my regions here and to advocate the rest of the fidonet there. And I'm beaten from both sides. Sorry, I cannot be very serious today, my beloved syster has her birthday today in Munich. :-) Bye, Sinc, Alex --- GoldED/W32 3.0.1* Origin: , (2:461/701) SEEN-BY: 120/544 123/500 461/700 701 633/260 262 267 270 285 634/383 640/954 SEEN-BY: 654/0 690/682 771/4020 774/605 2432/200 7105/1 @PATH: 461/701 700 123/500 774/605 633/260 285 |
