subject: WorkFrame: useful?

(This is probably a FAQ, but I don't think I've seen it since I've been
here.)

What is IBM's WorkFrame utility? I understand basically that it is
something like a development environment integrator as opposed to a strict
IDE (all parts from one vendor). What would it do for me if I were trying
to put together a setup with, say, the WATCOM compiler, GNU RCS, a few
custom utilities, generic text editor X (text-mode or GUI), and other
similar stuff? Does it tie it all together like a graphical MAKE, only
better than WATCOM's efforts? Is it WPS integrated? How well would it
work with RCS, or does it provide its own revision control? A major
missing features that would have been useful? Is it well supported by IBM
and vaguely bug-free?

Thanks for any enlightenment the gurus can provide.
