For an external modem, the display is fine where it is.
It's those people who bought or were otherwise "stuck" with internal modems
that a wired display module would be most feasable.
Most computer cases already have a fairly standard cut-out and window for the
CPU clock display - which many manufacturers consider "optional extras" thus
leaving the window empty. A modem display like Supra's two-character one
would fit PERFECTLY in such an opening. Maybe Supra could sell these with
future internal modems as an "extra" and charge fifteen bucks or so for it.
You never know what's happening with an internal modem now, with no way to
monitor them.
