After the Cowboys were eliminated, the owner told the Cowboys to cut out the
drugs and wild women and fast cars and tend to business or find employment
elsewhere.
Maybe the Carrollton Cycling Club (that runs regular club rides right by the
Cowboys headquarters) needs to start a bicycle training program for
pro-football players.

I wonder if the owner will really follow that up? I remember several
years ago, a Packer named James Lofton got into trouble with women in a
Green Bay hotel ... and he was gone, no questions asked. I don't think
I agreed with it at the time, but it seems to have made a statement to
many of the players here now. The ride that I do each summer used to
stay overnight in the Brown County Arena, which is across the street to
the east of Lambeau Field, and across the street to the north and south
from the Packer hall of fame and the practice field. As we were there
the 1st week in August, many of the younger riders got to watch the
practices and also got autographs from the players as they were walking
across the parking lot from Lambeau to the practice field. I guess
those days are over --- now there's no one on the team that will sign an
autograph for less than $20, from what I understand. Oh, yeah, after
they wouldn't let us sleep in the arena overnight, accommodations were
found at one of the local colleges in DePere (a suburb) which is where
the team stays during the practice camp period, so we still got to see
them as they were chowing down in the cafeteria. At any rate, the
weather seems more near normal now - it was really warm here (Milwaukee)
over the weekend (45) and even warmer near you. I would have ridden
over the weekend, but was up north skiing - it was in the mid 20's
there. Hope you had a good weekend.

BN> Have fun. Actually I can remember as a kid delivering newspapers
BN> to customers on a bike and it was not that bad. It was actually
BN> fun. I would have to use my wide tired bike back then as the old
BN> racing tires were not good.
Maybe so, maybe not. One of the mysteries that grows as we grow older and
wiser is how on earth we ever survived our childhood.
I don't recall ever crashing as a kid. Surely I did. But certainly we worn
no safety gear.
On the other hand as an old man, I've had four crashes that either sent my
bike to the shop or me to the doctor.
