The funny thing is that sometimes USR prove to be very helpful, but not to
the point of actually stating if a particular problem is due to their code.
 Joe was extremely helpful when I asked about the distinctive ring stuff,
details which aren't in the manual, but IMO should be.  Same thing with the
cure for the no EC problem (disabling the 3429 symbol rate, which does the
trick), but not actually stating which modem is at fault.

Your stating above that the "real reason" is that USR don't give
a shit.  You don't know that for a fact at all, and indeed, it simply isn't
true anyway.
