Years ago, I wrote a TSR screen saver/printer control program that let
me send commands like that to my Epson printer.  Since it is a TSR,it is
a DOS only program, but works fine in a VDM.  If you want it, let me
know and I will upload it (again) to the board listed at the end of my
message.  Below is a list of the commands it contains.

     F1     ;compressed print (17 or 20 characters per inch)
     F2     ;cancel compressed print
     F3     ;double width print
     F4     ;cancel double width print
     F5     ;elite print (12 characters per inch)
     F6     ;form feed (eject page from printer)
     F7     ;italics
     F8     ;cancel italics
     F9     ;full justification of both margins
    F10     ;line feed (with carriage return)
CTRL-F1     ;set left margin to xxx.  xxx must be a positive decimal integer
CTRL-F2     ;reset the printer to power on condition
CTRL-F3     ;set right margin to xxx.  xxx must be a positive decimal integer
CTRL-F4     ;set skip over perf to xxx lines. see CTRL-F1 for xxx
CTRL-F5     ;cancel skip over perf.  May also use CTRL-F4 and enter 0 lines.
