Outlaw scanners? Yeah right. You honestly believe that the federal
government (even certain members of the FCC) have nothing better to do
than come around and see if you are using your scanner illegally in
their eyes? Give me a break. I will say again. I do not listen to
cellular phone calls, but how in the world are they ever going to
enforce such a "law". These laws are only there because some knee-jerk
official saw a way to get quick votes.
Ok....lets say they outlaw scanners. Are they going to outlaw
transmitters, then outlaw CB's, then outlaw electronic parts so I cannot
build one, then outlaw the books that tell me how, then come to my home
and confiscate the books and equipment I have?
Get real! There is NO such thing as a "private radio link". What do you
do about the harmonics of transmissions. I would be willing to bet that
I could listen all day to cellular calls at the next harmonic or two
from the tower frequency the same as you can listen to a CB over your
television set.
What possible pupose could such a piper tiger law serve other than the
future of a politician. I believe in my freedoms and this "law" is
stupid. When the laws cease to serve the people they need to be
eliminated. This country was founded on such principles and we now have
so many useless, unenforceable sheets of paper we cannot see straight.
Whats worse...we have many people who are scared to death to cross these
"laws" for fear of heaven knows what.
The ONLY way to make cellular phone calls unaccessable to the
general public is to scramble them. No law can keep a radio transmission
private nomatter how elequently written. Educate the users of cell
phones in such matters. Dont repress the masses. Damn, this is starting
to sound like handgun laws. They dont work either.
