very sorreeeee if i denigrated your pet modems. btw, did you see the modem
test in this month's apc?

actually it seems strange, but 2 big us companies that i have dealings with
(one is ibm) use multimodem modems for their async maintenance links. the
explanation that i got was that they are the most reliable modems that they
could find, they work all over the world, and have approval in most
countries.
