Iostream is File I/O. File I/O is often used in GUI applications,
as well as to access pipes. It isn't always stdin/stdout. If iostreams
does not have multi-threaded versions, it is limiting to GUI
applications, too.

(Also, I don't know how IBM feel about this, but STDIN/STDOUT
(ie cout and cin) can be redirected through a pipe to a PM
application. Is this encouraged by IBM????)
