 From the question I've asked earlier. What driver are you using for the 
Adaptec? If you are using aic7870.add you better forget it as this 
driver doesn't suit the card.

And if anyone knows something suitable, I'll be glad to learn about it 
as I have the very same aha-3940 floating around here.
