subject: rockridge extensions?

*** Answering a msg posted in area PERSONAL_MAIL (Personal Mail).
Hello Jonathan!
UvdH>> and use the rockridge extensions so it can _truly_ be a *modern*
UvdH>> fileserver (i.e.: use the long filenames)?
JdBP> I wouldn't fall into the trap of thinking that RockRidge is "modern"
and
JdBP> that everything else is not, if I were you.
Oh yes. I know. I just think that 8.3 filenames are a DOS-ism and are 'old'.
The TRANS.TBL way of doing things is simple enough to make sure it works.
JdBP> The unfortunate truth of the matter is that there are no less than
JdBP> four different extensions to ISO 9660 for long filenames on CD-ROMs,
Argh!
JdBP> The "new" CDIFS.IFS that is available on the Device Driver Pack
JdBP> On-Line site (the URL for which is in your Connections folder)
JdBP> supports the Joliet extensions to ISO 9660.
So there is NO way to read rockridge extensions correctly?
Greetz,
        Udo
