          Hello Rick,
     I suspect that I am not the only person to tell you this, but the
   problem you mention can be fixed using TweakUi ( One of the MS
   PowerToys ). Use the option " Repair Associations ".
  (  The problem of losing the "install" option on INF files is
  highlighted in the "Help" section relating to "Repair Associations")
