   Yes Virginia, it can and probably is true.
   That "HP" software is actually just a hacked up version of the 
   useless crap that comes with Win95.
   The best thing you can do with it is dump that drive and go to a 
   good SCSI unit. But before you do, check the setup in the Device 
   Manager in the Control Panel for weirdities. I've seen a couple 
   machines where W95 incorrectly identified the bus and/or 
   installed multiple or incorrect drivers for same.
   Also try turning off ALL background applications before running 
   the compare/restore.
