Alright, three

        The Winmodem is a controllerless modem.  The software supplied
is what tells the host computer how to handle all the error control,
data compression, AT commands, etc.  It also controls how the computer
actually talks to the modem (it emulates a serial port and UART).  By
largest "frame" size are you refering to the largest LAP-M packets
that it'll negotiate?  If so, I'm not entirely certain, but I think
it's only 128 bytes.

        No.  It's basically just a regular Sportster only with all the
controller functions handed over to the host computer and the Windows
software.
