Hi there Rick, > G'Day Janis, G'dEvening :) >>>> I think there's just no excuse for making an internet node Pvt when he >>>> or she is online and reachabe 24/7 just like a pots node. >>> Can you provide an example of how they would be correctly listed in your >>> zone then. >> I use the method that David Moufarrage introduced me to, when I finally >> had a static ip, though I'll be changing all my listings this week. >> This node has no Pots line, and is decent example I think: >> ,100,filegate.net,Windsor_NY,Janis_Kracht,000-65-206-47-120,300,CM,IBN,I >> TN,IFT > And an example for one that doesn't have a static IP, please? IMO, we should not list them at all, unless a node can provide an ip address or domain name, or a transx mailbox - or creates a listing that showed limited hours would work, as above with txy flags.. Other than that, they're no more than points.. No one can connect to their bbs, and more importantly, no one can connect to their mailer. The nodelist is supposed to be a list of callable nodes, afterall. If we decide to start listing points, well, that's another issue which has never been discussed that I know of... Neither has the meaning of "Pvt/-Unpublished- " been redefined as far as I'm aware. The use of Pvt -Unpublished- was clearly originally intended to be used to prevent local and long distance callers from interfering with normail echomail delivery. >> I'll probably be using our new INA: test flag though and redoing the >> line like this: > Well as a test flag, would you not have a different segment for transfer to > other zones, or do you send the test flag across as well? The test flag flies to the other zones since you folks get the same segment as the rest of Zone 1 does.. MakeNl should ignore it if what I've read is true . NlMaint can be told to ignore unknown flags, error them out, or let them go unaltered, so I suppose it will depend on the other ZC's setup.
