I have run sql server on a mirror setup, but the log file was on an
non-mirrored partition.
Writing is slower, because it has to write to both drives, reading is
faster because it can read from either drive (whichever is less busy). On
average it balances out but an app that does a lot of writing or long
writes it might be noticably slower. That's with IDE mirrors anyway, with
scsi you might not notice so much.
