BV> Buggered if I know. I finally got the shits and called Banksia support.
BV> I asked the bloke on the other end of the phone how I could turn off
BV> the CNG tones which were being emited during data calls. He informed
BV> me that they weren't CNG tones (which is what newer fax machines send),
BV> but that they were in fact "NG" tones
BV> and that they are part of the V.34 spec. As he was obviously not
BV> from an english speaking background (like myself), I may have not
BV> understood the *exact* word he used to describe it.
BV> It was me who attempted a few times today though. I eventually gave
BV> up and set the fucking thing to try a v32.bis 14k4 connect.
Your workaround stopped working?
BV> BTW, what the hell are you attempting to do ?
Make use of my dedicated data line so that people can send me faxes.
BV> Why the heck don't you stop screwing everyone around with crap gear
BV> and giving everyone the shits ? Just go out and buy a Banksia V.34,
BV> plug it in and leave the fucker alone. It will work. If people can't
BV> connect to it with MNP-69,V.78,SX-2 then tell 'em to get a new modem.
I was warned multiple times not to buy a Banksia. Since then I have
ALSO heard that they have problems connecting to Vipers with adaptive
answer on.
PE> Also BTW, does this mean the USR Courier is violating the V34 spec,
PE> since it has no problem calling the Viper?
BV> Dunno. Since you have such a high opinion of USR's, I wouldn't' be
BV> surprised :)
I need to put the Netcomm back before I know whether there is
something fishy about the Spirit. I'll just leave AA on for
another day (forgot to fax myself), and then switch it off
again. BFN. Paul.
