RAM can go bad with age, but the likelihood is very small. There are many other components more likely to fail with age. Capacitors are at the top of the list. They are used on the motherboard and in the power supply. Many motherboards made in the late 90s and early 00s were supplied with capacitors destined for very early failure. Visit http://www.motherboardrepair.com/ and http://www.overclockers.com/tips00140/ to see some of the results. The beginning of cap failure can manifest as a need to slow the machine down to regain a previous stability level. As it progresses, what previously masked the problem will fail to do so any longer. New caps or new board are the ultimate fix. -- "Never tire of doing what is right." 2 Thessalonians 3:13 NIV Team OS/2 ** Reg.
