Calling all kids 7 years old and up!!
1996 Nepean Sailing Club Capsize,
Pool and Pizza Party
Here's an opportunity for your child to practice capsizing and righting
a
fully-rigged Optimist sailing dinghy in a pool, under close
supervision,
while wearing a Personal Flotation Device.   (These are some of the
same
dinghies used by our sailing school.)  Before and after taking their
turn
capsizing the dinghy, the children are free to enjoy supervised
swimming
anywhere in the pool except in the capsize area.  (The capsize area is
the
deepest part of the pool, to accomodate the capsized dinghy's  mast.)
The Nepean Sailing Club is renting the 50 m Nepean Sportsplex pool,
so it shouldn't be crowded.  Parents are welcome to join their children
in
the pool to swim, to watch them while seated in the stands along one
side
of the pool, or simply to drop them off and pick them up at the end of
the
event, if they are registered.
  (Please note that while there is close supervision while children are
in the pool, we cannot supervise them while they are in the showers,
change rooms, etc.)  Pizza and soft drinks will be available after
everyone has dried off and changed, at about 6:30 PM.
Date:  Sunday, April  28, 1996.
Pool Time:      5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
(Get there about 4:30 PM so you have time to check in and put in your
order
for pizza slices.  This way, your children will be showered and changed
in time.)
Pizza Time: about  6:30 PM to 7:00 PM or so.
The pizza and soft drinks will be consumed in the Water Safety Room
of the Nepean Sportsplex .
Location: the Nepean Sportsplex 50 m  pool,
          on Woodroffe Avenue, near the intersection with Hunt Club
Road.
          Free parking is available in front of the Sportsplex,
          with considerably more free parking behind the building.
Cost:   $10.00 per child (includes one hour in pool, at least one
capsize
        and righting, some pizza and a soft drink).
        No charge for use of pool by parents and other siblings.
        Pizza and soft drinks will  also be available at reasonable
cost
        for parents and siblings who want some.
Note: you need not be a member of the NSC to participate.
      Children usually enjoy this most when they have a good
      friend along to share the fun. The children should also have
      reasonable swimming ability and be comfortable in deep water
      while wearing a PFD.  For more information call 592-7915

This is a 90s style (i.e., low-cost) family outing!
