BV> No doubt I'll have to change it again when you change modems. BV> Jeez, you've got no idea how happy I am that you don't fuck-around BV> with anything unless you have a complete, detailed understanding of BV> exactly what it is you are doing. PE> Or get it from the support people directly, in this case, MBE. PE> Regardless, there was plenty of warning about it. PE> BTW, I went through the whole V.34 spec, and didn't see any PE> mention of "NG". What does "NG" stand for, what section of PE> the standard is it mentioned in, is there any synonym it might PE> be listed under? Buggered if I know. I finally got the shits and called Banksia support. I asked the bloke on the other end of the phone how I could turn off the CNG tones which were being emited during data calls. He informed me that they weren't CNG tones (which is what newer fax machines send), but that they were in fact "NG" tones and that they are part of the V.34 spec. As he was obviously not from an english speaking background (like myself), I may have not understood the *exact* word he used to describe it. PE> BTW, was it you that was calling it 8pm on Monday? Dunno. I don't think so. PE> Just as predicted, as soon as I disabled adaptive answer, whoever it PE> was stopped calling. That was why I didn't disable it on the PE> second-to-last attempt. It was me who attempted a few times today though. I eventually gave up and set the fucking thing to try a v32.bis 14k4 connect. BTW, what the hell are you attempting to do ? Why the heck don't you stop screwing everyone around with crap gear and giving everyone the shits ? Just go out and buy a Banksia V.34, plug it in and leave the fucker alone. It will work. If people can't connect to it with MNP-69,V.78,SX-2 then tell 'em to get a new modem. PE> Also BTW, does this mean the USR Courier is violating the V34 spec, PE> since it has no problem calling the Viper? Dunno. Since you have such a high opinion of USR's, I wouldn't' be surprised :) Regards, Brenton @EOT: ---* Origin: TestPoint (3:711/934.7) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
