RS> Far Echo Loss ( dB ) 38.9

RS> The only important difference is the near echo loss.
RS> Quite a substantial difference in that one tho.

BG> Dunno why that should be, either. I've compiled the up-to-date stats for a

Probably some quirk of the rain I suppose. The near echo loss includes
the entire local loop from your modem to the exchange line card.

BG> # 07 May 13:30:53 BINK Near Echo Loss ( Db ) 15.5
BG> # 07 May 13:30:53 BINK Far Echo Loss ( Db ) 22.4

Thats certainly rather typical.

BG> The Near Echo loss is much the same, regardless of distance,

Yeah, well, it should be, its a characteristic of YOUR local loop.

BG> although the Far Echo stats, whilst consistent,
BG> vary quite dramatically according to distance.

Its not actually the distance, its THEIR local loop, the system you called.
