The intermitents are always a bastard.

When did you last defrag the drive your message base is on?

I keep the message base on it's own separate partition, because with
continual add and purging of messages, the drive fragments _real_ quick.

On Christians machine the message base drive was 27% fragmented at the time
the AVT message file corrupted.  Mind you, the file was 27 meg !!
