Salut, Jean.

JP> I was trying to get my PCMCIA to report the connect ( DCE ) rate.

JP> I will then ask again, how does one get the USR to report/change
JP> the DCE rate, if it is possible at all.
USRobotics modems _always_ display the DCE rate. The only command
related to the CONNECT messages USRobotics modems have is
| &An &An enables/disables additional result code subsets (see Xn).
|
| &A0 ARQ result codes disabled
| &A1 ARQ result codes enabled
| &A2 V.32 modulation indicator added
| &A3 Protocol indicators added* LAPM/MNP/NONE (error control)
| and V42 bis/MNP5 (data compression) (the default)
JP> We use this one on AOL mainly and it shows 28k8, mostly 26k4 and a
JP> few 31k2.
Those are DCE rates. DCE rates for V.43 modems are 33600, 31200, 28800,
26400, 24000, etc.
JP> I have it at 152k.
That is DTE rate and it's 115200 bps. DTE rates are 115200, 57600,
38400, 19200, 9600, etc.
JP> I am writing these figures from my PRAM ( personal RAM ) so they
JP> might be out. I take it then that this is DCE, floating with the
JP> line conditions.
The DTE rate is fixed, and set by yourself (maybe sometimes set by the
program but you should be able to change it if you want), so there is no
need to display it. USRobotics modems _always_ display the DCE rate and
_never_ display the DTE rate.
