FW> Actually, John Stoodley, wrote a book on nothing but the Pionus
FW> species. Now... finding a copy of the book would take Sherlock a week
FW> or so. I managed to borrow a copy to read a couple of years ago. And
FW> it is out of print in the U.S. but can sometimes be found in Great
FW> Britain.
FW> You're right, though. There isn't a lot of info on them. I have four
FW> different species and I think they are wonderful little birds.
Hi Fran
Yep several people have told me about Stoodley's book yet nobody
Can seem to find me a copy maybe some library someplace has it I don't know
would like to read it. I recall the section of the book you spoke of was
printed in an aviculture paper from Europe I came across it by accident
one day and I Think it's ironic that bird's we pay for other people eat.
FW> The only thing that I remember from the book is a story he tells about
FW> being in a field of maze when a hugh flock of Pionus came to feed.
FW> Waiting for them were residents of that area and 200 of the Pionus
FW> were slaughtered for food.
FW> From that, I gathered that there are very large flocks of Pionus. That
FW> they are probably like pigeons here.
FW> Fran
Have any interesting info from your own experiences would love to hear it.
