PN> SG> out of reach. Though naturally, "in plain sight" is asking for
trouble.
PN> How is "'in plain sight' is asking for trouble?"
DA> I was thinking the same thing. AZ has had open carry forever.
But Texas was victim to carpetbaggers who outlawed or restricted most
forms of carry. They still have to put up with a few strange twists...
Arizona's constitution specifically states that a person may keep and
bear, and despite some restrictions we've managed to maintain that
right.
DA> Indiana's handgun permit allows either open or concealed. You
DA> don't see open carry often, but some do.
We see it occasionally...I've never taken a poll, but it's not so unusual
as to be remarkable. Except by transplants and turistas. I personally
have _never_ received negative comment, and occasionally somebody
comments favorably. Perhaps the negative comments are witheld out of
fear? . And both my mother and wife have been asked, out of my
presence, if I'm a cop, or "why does your husband carry a gun?"
DA> I think both open and concealed carry is good. With concealed
DA> carry, the crooks don't know who is carrying. But as long as at
DA> least one person in the would-be-crook's presence is carrying, it
DA> reminds the crook that the good guys DO have guns.
Agreed. Although I personally would like to see more open carry. It's
a reminder to the gun-grabbers as well as the crooks.
