I'm actually planning on documenting my setup, too. Once everything works reasonably well and I haven't tinkered with it for 2-3 days (like *that* will ever happen ;-) ).

My setup currently consists of BinkD, FMail, GoldEd, running on Windows. I had considered Linux, and while for example my Plex server is completely on Linux, I wanted something more familiar (to me) for the whole automation around my Node system. Because I might not be a super Pro in Fido, but I do know my way around DOS batch and PowerShell. Not sure yet if I'll bother with file areas, I'd have to see about that.
