Greetings Struther,
--------------------
AH>>or something like that. It was an '88 - 41 feet, and the guy wanted
AH>>$80K for it.
SM> Wow! that's not a very lot of money for a a very lot
SM> of resonably new boat!... what was (is) wrong with it?
----
Really can't tell you anything about it as the guy wouldn't return any
calls. It is some where in Toronto though, and since it was my broker who
tracked it down, he's the only one with the number . Wouldn't you be
pleasingly jealous! :^) A 41 parked right beside your 36 with ME on deck
smiling at you would just be the icing on the cake wouldn't it?
Apparently, there was nothing wrong with it other than cosmetic ie: gelcoat
chips every here and there. The owner had said that $12,000 would make her
brand spanking new. I've got a hunch that it was probably listed in a
recent GAM magazine (saw it on the broker's desk)... figure it's probably
sold by now though :^(.
--------------------
SM> Certainly sounds like you've been busy - except, I
SM> hate to be the one to tell you this, but the "Crown"
SM> is a Ford CAR (!), Augustin!
---
Ooh, and here I was thinking it was a Toyota. A Ford will give me
more living space and more stowage too! See ya on the high seas!
--------------------
AH>>Matter of fact, I'll be in TO April 19th to see a Whitby 45.
SM> We'll be sure to be unavailable .... Bonaventure
SM> is NOT an NYC boat - just checked the membership list
SM> and it's not there... unless, of course, it came to
SM> to the club after the list was made up last year
---
Hmm. Pat Sturgeon is the one listing it, but I wonder if it'll be
worth buying then spending another $10K to ship her west. I've been
realizing that Ontario boats are probably among the best deals. After all,
it's a well known fact that you guys spend three quarters of the year
dreaming about sailing while your boats sit on dry land A 4 year old
Toronto boat is like a one year old Vancouver boat - and we use the engine
quite a bit more around here too. Geez, you guys run it for 5 minutes to
get out of the club and you're out there sailing! But then, once we set
sail, we can go for months at a time :^).
--------------------
SM> two months????? it's exactly 28 days away as I sit here
SM> on the morning of Good Friday - I'm thinking of a
SM> Better Friday that's 4 weeks away - May 3rd (yippee!)
---
Had I known it was SO soon, I wouldn't have bothered moving to
Lotus Land! (Just a joke Struther, just a joke)
--------------------
SM> See you when you get here!... and continued good luck in your
SM> search for the "perfect boat"....hint - it doesn't exist!
---
Maybe not for you - you're the one who keeps getting stuck with boats
with strange names like "Kilt 7.5" and "Synopsis". You'll notice that all
the boats I've been looking at have names pertinent to sailing like
"Bonaventure", "Vagabond", "Papillon", etc. Even the Newport 41 I'm going
to see in Sidney is called "K1326649" cute isn't it? Maybe I'll see you at
the club Friday night (Apr 19) which is exactly two days after my birthday
- but don't feel you have to buy me dinner or even a beer... after all, I'm
sure you reach your minimum billing requirement on the first of each month
.
Cheers,
Augustin~~~===
