Just so, though some people are trying to push it in that direction by the amount of bloat that's getting added to some web pages. Take one that's slow to load and see how often the word "font" shows up in there, for one example. The big thing these days seems to be to use that command over and over and over again, along with lots of stuff that's m$-specific, particularly if the page was created with front page, or worse yet, with m$ word. No other software out there will deal with this crap, but they load it up in there anyway, just in case you want to use the same package again. That and *way* too many images seem to be my major problems with poorly done web sites these days. And I guess a poorly-run provider that I used to use who I *never* connected with any faster than 31200. Those jerks are sending that last bit out for collection, too. They don't know what sort of a can of worms they've opened up here... :-) BTW, I told my brother a local access number for the guys I'm using now, and he's seeing the same speed difference too, more or less. And he isn't real happy about it. ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 3613/1275 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
