Turn of "Simple file sharing" on the XP machine for one. Just
from normal Windows explorer, pick Tools menu -> "Folder
Options" -> View page -> scroll the list all the way to the
bottom and uncheck "Use Simple File Sharing."
This XP machine hasn't ever been a member of a domain, was it?
