Paul, at 14:31 on May 12 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley... PE> Bill, this is a list of problems I found when trying to use the PE> Viper, not a list of guaranteed Viper-at-fault ROM bugs. Most of the ones to do with connection problems are PE> signs of deficient code though, although not necessarily a bug on PE> the part of the modem in question. You don't know that for sure though. You're making assumptions based on just one sample on one specific line. Hardly empirical evidence, is it? The reality is that with the Viper, the VAST majority of "problems" were errors with the manual, and NOT the modem itself. PE> You may have noticed that the RockwellUSR problems got reported on PE> BOTH modems "problem list". Not really, I didn't pay them all that much attention. BG> Does the manual offer any suggestions here? PE> I read the manual on FAXing, and asked questions in the SPIRIT echo, PE> and I've asked MBE (who suggested just +FAA=1 would do). So says the Courier manual as well. I'd be surprised if +FAA=1 in the init, and a normal answer string of ATA didn't work. So go on, surprise me...
