I didn't mean to imply the price was unreasonable.  The unit will switch a
reasonable amount of power and does have more than a few useful features. 
I was just surprised that it did not have better security features.  You
might ask the vendor what they intend to do to address this.

That pretty much takes care of the ROI.

I would discuss these issues with with Armin of Lone Peak Automation. 
He's got a lot of experience with this equipment.

Inside the firewall you could use local devices connected to a serial
interface However, my experience is that they are priced similarly to the
iBoot boxes.  None of these kinds of boxes are commodities, so the prices
are going to be commercial level.

Given that you can keep the iBoot box inside the firewall and control it
from the local OS/2 box, your only real issue is realibility of the box
itself.
