CP>No, I got them in October the following year. I got three females with
CP>one male. They were checked out by Dr. Pam Hendrickson in Palm Beach
CP>with a clean bill of health.
That's great! I didn't realized at the time there were Hahns there. I
had talked to Morgan and Howard about the birds at the time. Howard was
the one that told me that Dr Clubb had examined them and found many to
have papilloma. That was why he said he wasn't interested. But he did say
not all the birds had them. He also said Dr Clubb wanted to do a
complete physical and tests on each bird with a disclosure statement for
the auction. But the county wouldn't pay for it.
CP>BH>last August 10th? I was going to go but wasn't able at the
last minute.
CP>That was two years ago....will be three this Aug 96
Boy time flies...
CP>BH>Do you, by any chance, know who did buy most of the birds? I was told
CP>BH>that most of them went to one buyer for a very cheap price. Cheap price
CP>Some Hahns went for 1,400 a piece. The feathered kids did not go
CP>cheap, more expensive then when you buy direct from the breeder. The
CP>big kids went away in two by two's with some on the back of trucks.
Man, that is more than I expected. I was told they were all sold cheap.
I just worried about them for some reason. I can't stand animals being
abused and treated like commodities. Most birds that come here stay
here. I think stability is most important.
CP>BH>went. My major concern here is that I was told there were a lot
of Red CP>BH>Bellied Macaws in that lot of birds. These have become a
special concern
CP>I think there was only two of them. Not sure as I was not at the
CP>Auction, nor do I attend any auction.
CP>BH>them to breed which is something. So I am wondering if you have a lead
CP>BH>on where the birds went and who bought them. Not too many people really
CP>BH>want RBM's. I agree with Gail Worth that they oughta be bred right now
CP>Call the Avian Vets as Harrison, Goldsmith, Backos up and down the Coast
CP>here as most looked at the birds once sold. Also you might try susan
CP>clubb in Loxahatchee as she was the vet.
I will try to contact them to see if they have any idea what happened to
them. Thanks for the leads!
Also, a while back I thought you made a comment about something Jack
Gaskins said at the Midwest Avian Expo (I think) changing your mind or
bringing up questions or something about polyoma and such. Was that you?
At least I thought it was and wondered what the info was. I think it was
in a post referring to the videotapes from Midwest. Was this you? I'm
just curious, not meaning to be pushy. I know Jack ( talked to him on
the phone a day or two ago) and was just wondering. I know how he feels
about polyoma and beak and feather, causes, etc, and also about
whether or not the vaccine is effective. I have learned a lot from him
and he tests a lot of birds for me.
CP>I don't know about the Red Bellies sorry
Not a problem. Any help is and was appreciated!
Thanks!!!
