subject: ANGEL TRUMPET FLOWER/P

I have (had) two Angel Trumpet plants. One was yellow and the other was
pink. My question is this: how far down should I trim them for the
spring growth? I was told by a local nursery to go clean down to the
ground but that seems a bit harsh!!!!! Is there anyone who can set my
mind at ease about them. If the don't come back (due to the winter
months) I plan on buying a new one anyway.....just didn't plan on
spending that much money again for another duplicate plant for the yard.
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me...Oh-- I'm from Portland,
Oregon in case anyone needs that info to answer my question......
