Jerold Schulman recently posted the following on Compuserve WINNT: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) has been released to maunfacturing. The relevant end-user schedules for 2004 are: August 06 Release to manufacturing. August 09 Release to Microsoft Download Center (network installation package). August 09 Release to MSDN subscription site (CD ISO image). August 16 Release to Automatic Updates. August 16 Release to Software Update Services. August xx Release to Windows Update. I don't know how much AU will download. Perhaps only a stub with core components of SP2. When run, perhaps the stub looks more closely at what is required on the system and may need to download more?? I would NOT try to download SP2 over dial-up! Surely one of our well-endowed friends here will send you a CD with the network installation package (around 270M ISTR). At one time there was talk about a free CD from Microsoft - but there should be quite a delay before that arrives.
